DUNLAP, IL. -- i3 Broadband, an independent and local provider of fiber-optic Gigabit high-speed internet service in Greater-Peoria, Champaign-Urbana, and Springfield, IL is excited to announce the expansion of its all-fiber-optic, Internet, Television, and Voice Network to the residents and businesses in the Village of Dunlap, IL.
“By expanding our network in Dunlap, we’re continuing to execute our long-term vision of growing our footprint and our relationships with each community we serve,” said Brian Olson, General Manager of i3 Broadband.
“We’re looking forward to providing services that vastly surpass their existing providers and enable the Village to be a more competitive place to live, work, and play.”
i3 Broadband has been recognized by BroadbandNow as the 2nd fastest Internet provider, and 3rd in Customer-Ratings in the entire nation.
Building on i3 Broadband’s original promise to the residents in the Village of Dunlap to provide free Internet services to all Village facilities, the Dunlap Public Library District has become an integral partner to enable these World-Class services throughout the Village.
“The Library is proud to have partnered with i3 in facilitating the placement of necessary infrastructure to serve the whole Village,” said Laura Keyes-Kaplafka, Director of Dunlap Public Library District.
“Libraries are the cornerstone of Americans’ access to information. World-Class connectivity for research and learning reinforces our library’s mission to be the educational and learning center for our residents now and into the future.”
The Village of Dunlap Board of Trustees and President of the Board have been building their partnership with i3 Broadband for several years. The Village has pursued options for its residents for internet, phone and television services, and with a growing “work-from-home” population, Dunlap has an increased demand for high-speed internet.
“Along with outstanding schools and attractive home prices, the addition of reliable fiber-optic technology solidifies Dunlap’s position of being one of the best places to live in the nation” said Tracy Korger, Village of Dunlap Clerk.
“Healthy competition is always good for the consumer and only increases home values, as well as making homes in our community more attractive to potential buyers.”
About the Dunlap Public Library District
In 1939 the Dunlap Public Library came into existence in the living room of local resident Mable Elwell, who ran the circulation from her home until the library moved in 1950 to the Dunlap Elementary School. In 1961 groundbreaking ceremonies took place for the construction of a 26 by 50-foot building that would be completed in November of 1963. During this time the library existed on donations from community members and businesses. In 1972 a referendum was passed to establish a tax-supported Dunlap Public Library District. Following the establishment of the district, the library received a 1500 square foot addition in 1978. In 2007 the library moved into a brand new 12,000 square foot building, on the same site.
