Bitwise Communications is incorporated and becomes the largest wholesaler of dial-up internet in Illinois. Eventually, Bitwise transforms into OmniLEC.
OmniLEC lays its first fibers underground through downtown Peoria and Pekin, IL, to serve businesses with the growing demand for higher bandwidth internet services.
OmniLEC is sold to the owner of Family Video and renamed iTV-3. With an all-fiber optic offering for customers, iTV-3 grows to nearly 10,000 customers in the greater Peoria and Champaign-Urbana, Illinois markets.
iTV-3 is renamed i3 Broadband.
The Rhode Island-based company, Full Channel, Inc., is acquired by i3 Broadband, adding over 6,000 customers and increasing staff to more than 100 people.
i3 Broadband begins executing the largest buildout in company history, expanding across its existing footprint in Illinois and Rhode Island, while entering the greater St. Louis area and other new states.
The i3 Broadband you know and love employs more than 200 local team members in the communities we serve. This workforce is proudly 100% U.S.-based. As we grow, we remain committed to providing the best experience for our customers — with industry-leading technology, transparent pricing and exceptional customer service.
